Animal Chiropractic: What Pet Owners Need to Know About This Growing Field

horse careMore pet owners in Broomfield are discovering the benefits of animal chiropractic care for their beloved companions. Whether you have a performance horse struggling with mobility or a family dog dealing with arthritis, understanding this specialized field can help you make informed decisions about your pet’s healthcare.

Professional Training and Qualifications

Professional animal chiropractors combine traditional chiropractic knowledge with specialized animal care training. In Broomfield, Top of the Line Chiropractic’s Dr. Annamarie Glenn brings extensive experience in both equine and canine care, backed by certification from the Animal Chiropractic Education Source (A.C.E.S). Her background in hunter/jumper disciplines and work with agility dogs provides unique insight into athletic animals’ needs.

Conditions That Benefit From Care

Animal chiropractic treatment can address numerous conditions:

  • Arthritis and joint pain
  • Mobility issues and lameness
  • Sports injuries and performance concerns
  • Post-surgery rehabilitation
  • Age-related stiffness
  • Nerve function problems
  • Muscle tension and spasms

What to Expect During Treatment

For dogs, Top of the Line Chiropractic provides a calm, welcoming environment with separate entrance options for reactive pets. Horses can receive care either through mobile services or at our specialized facility, designed for easy trailer access and comfortable treatment.

Each session begins with a thorough assessment of your pet’s condition, movement patterns, and medical history. Treatment plans are customized to address specific issues while considering factors like age, activity level, and overall health goals.

Working With Your Veterinarian

Professional animal chiropractic care works in partnership with traditional veterinary medicine. Top of the Line Chiropractic collaborates closely with local veterinarians, using their diagnoses and imaging to develop comprehensive treatment strategies. This integrated approach ensures your pet receives well-rounded care that addresses both immediate concerns and long-term wellness.

Monitoring Progress at Home

Between appointments, watch for positive changes in your pet’s movement and behavior. Many animals show improved mobility and comfort after treatment, often returning to activities they previously avoided. Some pets may experience mild soreness for 24-48 hours after adjustment, similar to humans starting a new exercise routine.

Making Informed Decisions

When considering animal chiropractic care, look for providers who:

  • Hold proper certification and licensing
  • Work collaboratively with veterinarians
  • Provide clear treatment plans
  • Create comfortable environments for animals
  • Demonstrate experience with your pet’s species

Dr. Glenn has helped my border collie through an injury and in the process, he has learned to be an eager eater! Fo the past 4 yrs he has hidden in the bedroom when i prep his dinner and doesn't come to eat unless i call him! Since Dr Glenn has adjusted him, he hangs out near the kitchen and is ready to eat! He also cleans his plate! Thanks Dr Glenn.
